Volvo SCC - the embodiment of the philosophy of the safety
In this year on the auto-salon in Detroit Volvo
demonstrated two concept- penalty, which once more confirmed that
Volvo is as before one of the leaders in the development of different
systems, which ensure safety in the automobile.
For the development of automobile by the name SCC engineers Volvo started after the results of a study, which showed, were obtained that to 90% of entire important information during the ride on the automobile, the men it obtains through the frontal and lateral glass! But in this case the substantial part of the survey overlap different parts of the body of automobile - cowling, lateral counters, roof etcetera.
However, to completely forego the lateral counters as yet is
impossible (although such attempts are undertaken). But indeed
it is possible to attempt to make their transparent, they solved in
company Volvo. On automobile Volvo SCC the front lateral
counters of roof are made lattice, and spaces were filled with
Plexiglas. However, as far as the central counters of the
bodies, which frequently interfere with lateral survey, are concerned,
they also removed them - now they are located... in the salon.
The originality of the solution consists in the fact that the
lateral counters of body are united with the front and rear armchairs!
They seemingly flow about the seats. In this case several
positive effects are reached. First, as it was said above, the
best survey is ensured, and, in the second place, armchairs are now
united into single whole with the stressed frame of body. This
in turn ensures an improvement in the passive restraint, especially
with the lateral impacts.
Furthermore, driver and passengers protect the new belts of
safety as on the racing automobiles. I think, to speak, that
Volvo SCC has several pillows of safety, it does not stand, but here
it is worthwhile to speak separately about one. On SCC for the
first time in history Volvo is used the external pillow of safety,
which will protect pedestrians in the case of collision. It is
revealed in the frontal glass and is called to protect the head of
pedestrian. But cowling with the easily mashed zones is designed
for the rescuing of body and feet. True, until engineers Volvo
devise how to restore the damaged sections, indeed replacement or the
repair of the cowling, which "will be formed" with the least impact,
it will cost sufficiently dearly. However, as far as children's
armchairs are concerned, as such it does not exist, but rear armchair
together with the belts is regulated on the height.
Volvo SCC Is literally stuffed by electronics, which is intended
for the safe and convenient driving. You understand on this, as
soon as you fall into the salon. For the beginning the computer
"requests" driver to look directly before itself. At this moment
special sensors determine the position of the eyes of driver relative
to road, cowling, roof and the like after this driver armchair
automatically rises or is lowered, until is engaged itself the optimum
position, which makes it possible to obtain the best survey in this
case control, pedals and even lever of gearbox and... floor also
begins to move!
After this, you do not no longer so be surprised at the presence
of all possible chambers of rear form and sensors of the trackings,
which are determined, up to what distance of SCC it approached the
adjacent automobile - such systems are encountered on the concepts
quite often. But here are the cameras, which track after the
"dead" zones - this already something new. Because of them to
the control board is derived the image of the automobile, which find
in the dangerous proximity so that the driver would be up to date in
proceeding on the road.
Are interesting the headlights of head light. The
illuminated zone is lengthened with the acceleration and the ride at
the high speed so that the driver could see how further as possible
forward. With reduction in the speed the light beam is
shortened, but it becomes wider and with the turning it follows the
direction of front wheels. But still Volvo SCC is equipped with
the system of night viden'ya. It by infrared rays is scanned
space and is derived image in the black and white form before the eyes
of driver.
From another "navorotov" attention is drawn to system VPC (Volvo Personal Communication). It makes it possible not only to start automobile from the distance, but also warns driver about the penetration of strangers into the salon (special sensors they can hear beating the heart of man). Furthermore, VPC contains into its of memory all data about the driver - his group of the blood, disease, intolerance to the medicines etcetera. In the case of emergency the system itself sends entire this information to the nearest medical center. Most likely, Volvo SCC never will fall into the series production; however, not in this its destination. Its sense - this to show contemporary possibilities and developments. But here some one of these developments in one or other form or another already can fall, also, on series models.
